Robert Keith McMillan Dec.18, 1939 - Dec 9, 2002 Dies of Lung Cancer
Longmont Daily Times-Call McMILLAN, Robert Keith Dec. 18, 1939 — Dec. 9, 2002 Robert Keith McMillan died of lung cancer Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in Boulder. He was 62. He was born Dec. 18, 1939, to H. Keith and Ethel May (Easterday) McMillan in Arkansas City, Kan. He grew up in Longmont and graduated from Longmont High School. On Sept. 13, 1964, he married Judith James in Estes Park. Mr. McMillan served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1962. He managed the Trail Ridge Store in Rocky Mountain National Park. He then taught a business class at Boulder High School for three years. He owned and operated Flatiron Postcard Company for 30 years until his retirement in 1996. Mr. McMillan was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boulder for 30 years. He also was a member of Postcard Distributors of North America for 30 years, and served as the president. He was an avid fisherman and loved traveling, gardening, barbecuing and cooking. He enjoyed reading about history and watching sports. He will be remembered for his compassion and unique sense of humor and as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and companion. He was known as Bob the Wide-Mouth Frog, Daddy Bob, Bob-pa and Mac. Mr. McMillan was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife on Feb. 5, 1997. He is survived by his companion, Janis Walden of Boulder; two daughters, Lydia Senn and her husband Nicholas of Redstone, Colo., and Barbi Appel and her husband Jeremy of Boulder; a son, Russell McMillan and his wife Shirley of Austin, Texas; a sister, Rita Schageman and her husband Bus of Estes Park; and two grandsons, Isaac and Ethan Appel of Boulder. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at First Presbyterian Church in Boulder. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2130 Mountain View Ave., Longmont 80501. Howe Mortuary of Boulder is handling arrangements.
