Funeral Thursday for John Vaughn

Funeral services for John Alex Vaughn, who died of gunshot wounds early today in Longmont Community Hospital, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lewellen Funeral Home

Rev. Dale McCann, pastor of the First Christian Church of which the 23 year old homicide victim was a member, will officiate. Burial will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory, north of Longmont.

Contributions may be made to the Boulder County Easter Seal Fund, care of the Lewellen Funeral Home.

Mr. Vaughn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vaughn of 1211 Juniper St., was born in Colby, Kansas, July 11, 1947. The family moved to Longmont in 1953.

Mr. Vaughn attended Longmont schools (Longmont High, 1961-64) and was graduated from St. John's Military Academy at Salina, Kansas, in 1965.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. Since his discharge, he has been employed by his father, a prominent local mason contractor (a brick layer).

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Robert Dale Vaughn of Longmont; a sister, Mrs. Ronald Smith, also of Longmont; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Vaughn and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Barnett, both of Resford, Kansas
