LEONARD, James M., 55, Longmont, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. No viewing or service scheduled. Cremation is being handled by Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel.

April 16, 1947 - July 18, 2002

James Myron Leonard, a lifetime resident of Longmont, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Platte Valley Medical Center. He was 55.

He was born April 16, 1947, to Harold Andrew and Lettie Elizabeth (Sorenson) Leonard in Longmont. Mr. Leonard was called into the U.S. Army in 1967, where he served as a medic in Vietnam. After he was honorably discharged, he worked on Dirks Farm until his health forced his retirement in 1999.

Mr. Leonard was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a former member of Liberty Hall Grange.

Mr. Leonard enjoyed taking trips into the mountains, seeing his sister in Tucson, Ariz., and going to Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifford Leonard. Mr. Leonard is survived by three sisters, Sally Dirks and her husband Pete of Longmont, Lois Vynckier and her husband Don of Fort Lupton, and Judy Henslee of Tucson; a sister-in-law, Vi Leonard; 15 nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Cremation has been held. No visitation or services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Elevator Fund in care of Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel, 503 Terry St., Longmont 80501.
