JerryBERNAL of Longmont died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 60.

Mr. Bernal was born July 23, 1945, to Antonio and Mary (Muniz) Bernal near Longmont. After graduating from Longmont High School in 1963, he attended the Denver Automotive Institute and earned a Master Mechanic diploma in 1965.

Mr. Bernal served in the U.S. Army, and upon his honorable discharge in 1968, he returned to Longmont and opened JB Automotive.

Mr. Bernal later worked for the city of Longmont, first as a custodian, and, after nearly 25 years, worked his way up to a supervisory position in the water department.

He will be remembered for his love of motorcycles and long rides in the mountains. He enjoyed movies, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his two dogs, CD and Bear, and his cat, Pumpkin.

Mr. Bernal was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Franklin Bernal.

He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Lynn Lee of Longmont; a sister, Corrine Arseneau of Longmont; two grandchildren, Jerry Edward Lee and Jasmine Marie Lee; one uncle, Alvino Muniz and his wife Elaine of Commerce City; 12 nieces and nephews; one goddaughter, Susan Trautman; and his wife, Erma Linda Giron.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Howe Mortuary. Pastor Don Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
