Eugene "Gene"Bowles Eugene “Gene” Bowles, of Berthoud died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Loveland. He was 54. He was born May 28, 1948, to Fred William and Ruth (Wiseman) Bowles in Longmont. He attended Longmont High School. On May 25, 1972, he married Susan Kay Wilkes in Longmont. He moved to Berthoud in 1974. Mr. Bowles was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at McDonald Farms as a truck driver. Mr. Bowles was a volunteer firefighter with the Berthoud Fire Department for 10 years. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and he enjoyed body surfing, scuba diving and bowling. He was a skilled handyman, carpenter and drummer. He will be remembered as a dreamer who was always looking for the ultimate invention. Mr. Bowles was preceded in death by his father and a son, Christopher Dale Bowles. He is survived by his wife; his mother; two sons, Brad and Rick Bowles; two brothers, Jack Bowles and his wife Ava and Lloyd Bowles and his wife Pat; two sisters, Rita Baker and Lillie Keesecker and her husband Charlie; his father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Joyce Wilkes; his grandmother-in-law, Mabel Wilkes; a brother-in-law, Alan Wilkes; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Wilkes and Connie McKinney and her husband Tim. A
celebration-of-life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at
First Christian Church in Loveland. Military rites will be performed by the
Associated Veterans Honor Guard of Loveland. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Berthoud Fire Department, Hospice of Larimer County or the
Thompson Valley Dive and Rescue Team in care of Allnutt Funeral Service,
2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland 80538. |
