The Cornerstone Gallery will feature pastel artist C.G. "Gary" Yeager during November. Cathy Hains will continue to be the featured potter. A reception for the artists will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 7 at the Gallery, 418 Main St.

Yeager's show is titled "Pastel Landscapes" and depicts a keen sense of history in his nostalgic rural scenes. He grew up in rural Colorado in the `40's and `50's, spending much time on his grandparent's farm.

Now a lawyer living in Loveland, Yeager began painting at age 40 and entered his first show in 1985. He sold his 1st-place painting as a novice in that show and hence launched his artistic career. He has won local, regional, and national juried shows. He is the author of "Arrowhead and Stone Artifacts," published by Pruett Publishing Co., as well as a number of other published articles. The paintings are from his own photos and scenes carried in his mind from his travels as an amateur archaeologist.

Yeager graduated from Longmont High School in 1960, Colorado State University in 1964 and the University of Colorado School of Law in 1967. He served on the USS Constellation, 1968-1969, during the Vietnam campaign.

Yeager speaks to the importance of preserving the vanishing remnants of yesterday in the American West.

"Despite current trends in artwork, I would imagine that I will always depict history in my landscape paintings, this is where my heart is and, quite naturally, where my art is."

Yeager is a member of the Thompson Valley Art League and an officer in the Loveland Archaeological Society, Inc., and plays the guitar with the Stone Age Band of Loveland.
