Albert “Pete” H. Dirks, 67, a lifelong resident of Longmont, Colo., died on June 15, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. He was born on April 15, 1936, in Longmont to Herman and Julia (Stack) Dirks. He was raised and educated in Longmont, graduating from Longmont High School in 1954.

Pete married Sally Leonard in Longmont on Nov. 26, 1961. Pete was a dairy farmer. He served in the National Guard. He was master of the Liberty Hall Grange for many years. He was a member and past deacon of the First Christian Church. More recently, he attended Lifebridge Christian Church. Most people knew him as “Uncle Pete.” He was a helpful and kind man, always willing to give others a hand if they needed anything. He recently enjoyed working with babies and toddlers in the church nursery. He loved children and animals.

Pete is survived by his wife, Sally; two sons, Stanley of Northglenn, Colo., and Steven of Longmont; three daughters: Cynthia and husband James Wulf of Newton, Kan., Tamara of Riverside, Calif., and Patricia and husband Arn Womble of Fort Collins, Colo.; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Raymond and wife Jane of Longmont; and one sister, Dolores and husband Lewis Myers of Arvada, Colo. Services were held in Longmont with interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
