Word was received in Longmont Saturday that Cpl. Carlton Barry Halcomb, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Halcomb, 1236 Aspen St., had been killed in Vietnam. Halcomb began his tour of duty in Vietnam on January 8, 1968, and was killed by enemy fire on February 14, 1968, in Thua Thien, South Vietnam.

Cpl. Halcomb was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on August 30, 1946, and came to Longmont from Brighton in June, 1962. He was graduated from Longmont High School in 1964 and following two years at the University of Colorado, enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1967.

He is survived, in addition to his parents, by one sister, Cheryl Gay of Heidelberg, Germany; his grandfather, T.H. Halcomb of Kentucky; 15 uncles and aunts, and a number of cousins, one of which is a pilot serving in Vietnam.

Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Longmont at a time to be announced after arrival of the body.

Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory, according to Howe Mortuary.
