Thomas John GIBBONS , 62, formerly of Berthoud and Loveland, died January 31, 2009, at his home in Leesburg, FL, of a massive heart attack.

He was born March 18, 1946, in St. Louis, MO, to John E. Gibbons and Anita Vasquez Gibbons.

Tom married Sandra Spellerberg on May 27, 1981, and became stepfather to Carrissa and Daniel Spellerberg. Tom was employed with the St.Vrain Valley School District for 24 years, serving as principal of Hygiene Elementary, Spangler Elementary and Mead Middle School.

Tom is survived by stepdaughter Carrissa Spellerberg (James Henke) of Kansas City, MO; stepson Daniel Spellerberg (Michelle) of Palatine, IL; grandson Maddox; and granddaughter Tegan. Tom also is survived by sister Jackie Geile (Robert) of Arnold, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
