Mary Sylvia MARTINEZ , 68, of Longmont passed away October 1, 2008 at
Longmont United Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1940, in Billings, Montana, to Marcos and
Euphelia (Jaramillo) Martinez. She moved to Greeley in 1942 and to
Longmont in 1948. She married Jose J. Martinez in Longmont on Jan. 24,
1959.
She worked for Sherwood Industries for 23 years, then Applewood Living
Center, and then the
St.Vrain Valley School
District.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She loved
spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Mary enjoyed occasional trips to Black Hawk and
Central City, and traveling in the U.S. She also loved her dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Donelia Macias,
Mary Martinez and Martha Martinez; and four brothers, John, Victor, Joe
and Mark Martinez.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jose J. Martinez of Longmont; two sons,
Russell Martinez of Longmont and Richard (Alma) Martinez of Longmont;
two daughters, Yvonne Benavides of Greeley and Annette Martinez (Brian
Beddow) of Longmont; 16 grandchildren, Cassie and Frankie Martinez,
Denise and Rebecca Rosales, Michael Lovato, Ashley, Alyssa and Alex
Koehler, Jeremy Mack Martinez, Michael Ramirez, Aaron Martinez, Sosten,
Jordon, Tyson and Kourtney Benavides, and Mya Ramirez; 13
great-grandchildren, Marcos Martinez, Precious and Joe Benavides, Angel,
Alisha, Amya, Anthony, George, Aleah and Serenity Rosales, Zaiha
Trujillo, Luna Taylor and Elysia Lovato; one sister, Terri (Bob) Barela
of Longmont; and five brothers, Philip (Sophie) Jaramillo of Greeley,
Ramon Martinez of Longmont, Dave Martinez of Longmont, Tom (Virginia)
Martinez of Sioux City, Iowa, and Benny (Jodie) Martinez of Longmont.
Mary also is survived by her beloved baby dog, Pup.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Monday,
October 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass of the
Resurrection 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, at St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church, with Rev. Brian Morrow celebrant. Interment Longmont
