Memorial services for Kathryn Gunning Ehrlich, 30, of Boulder will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the First Congregational Church of Longmont with the Rev. Fred Hodkins presiding.

Private family funeral services will be held at the Ahlberg Funeral Home today at 11 a.m. Mrs. Ehrlich died September 3 in San Francisco, Calif. the casket will be open at the funeral home today and Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. and all day Monday.

The Kathryn Gunning Ehrlich Memorial for Humanistic Endeavors has been established at the First Congregational Church, 1500 Ninth Ave., Longmont.

A Longmont native, born October 11, 1947, she was the daughter of Albert and Marian Weld, 4733 Briar Ridge Ct., Boulder.

Mrs. Ehrlich grew up in the community and graduated from Longmont High School in 1965 as a member of the "Honor Five," and scholarship winner. She was a cheer leader and first chair flutist in band and orchestra. She was active in 4-H Club work, Girl Scouts and the First Congregational Youth Fellowship, among many school and community affairs.

She graduated from Stanford University in the honors program with a Bachelor of Science degree, setting a goal for a career in clinical psychology. She studied on a year's fellowship at Johns Hopkins University at Baltimore, Md., returning to Boulder to earn her master's degree in social psychology at the University of Colorado. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority at CU.

She was working on her doctorate in clinical psychology and as an intern at Langley-Porter Hospital of the University of California in San Francisco.

She was married to Steve Ehrlich, July 28, 1972, and they made their home in Boulder.

She had come to Longmont in July to participate in the wedding festivities of her sister, Carol, married to Gary McElroy.

Mrs. Ehrlich's roots go back to Longmont pioneers both on her maternal and paternal sides of the family. Her paternal grandparents were Charlie and Clara Benewitz Gunning. He came to Colorado with his family in 1893 and was owner and president of Colorado Brick Co. from 1917. He was a Longmont councilman for several terms and a community builder.

Maternal grandparents were Lyman P . and Ruth Davis Weld. She was a Longmont native, with pioneer parents. Weld, a Longmont attorney and state representative for several terms, coincidentally came to Longmont with Mrs. Charles Gunning on the same wagon train.

Mrs. Ehrlich is survived by her husband; her parents; a sister, Carol McElroy of Isfahan, Iran; two aunts, Margaret Wall of Longmont; and Vivian Neeley of California; and five cousins.
