Veterinarian dies at home

Don E. Benson, DVM

Dr. Don E. Benson, DVM, died on Monday, Feb. 15, 1993, at his home in Newark, Calif. He was 45. Dr. Benson was born on March 29, 1947, in Auburn, Neb. He was the son of Mark and Helen Benson, who reside in Longmont.

A 1965 graduate of Longmont High School, he attended Colorado State University where he graduated with honors as a doctor of veterinary medicine. Since graduating, he practiced in the California Bay area, specializing in small animal medicine. He was an avid lover of the outdoors and particulary enjoyed skiing, fishing, and camping.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Lacey, and her mother, Dawn Chrisp of Newark, Calif.; a sister, Elaine (Dick) Valente of Arvada; a nephew, Scott Valente of Arvada; and a niece, Heather Valente of Tucson, Ariz.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 1993, at Westview Presbyterian Church, 1500 Hover Road in Longmont. Private burial was at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Lacey Benson Educational Fund in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St. Longmont.
