MarieSTERKEL , 89, of Longmont passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Peaks Care Center. Marie was born in Longmont on April 28, 1919, to Conrad and Elizabeth (Weber) Fagler. She married Henry Sterkel on October 30, 1937. The Sterkels farmed in the Longmont, Niwot, Loveland and Aurora areas for several years.

Marie worked in the housekeeping services for the University of Colorado from 1965 until her retirement in 1983. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. When she was caring and sitting for her grandchildren she would always make sure she had plenty of homemade sweets for them.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, three infant sons, her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Marie is survived by her four sons: Larry (Dixie), Duane (Darlene), Gary (Karen) and Darrell (Tami), all of Longmont; eight grandchildren: Scott (Lori), Randy (Suzanne), Doug, Mark and Nathan (Alana) Sterkel, Karie Docheff (Jay), Jamie Mendez (Miguel), and Mandie Johnson (Chris); three stepgrandchildren: Chad, B.J. and Eddie Minch; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister Lydia Davis; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. all at
Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel. Interment Mountain View Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Front Range Hospice or the Tiny Tim Developmental Pre-School, c/o Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services
