Marilyn M. DIAMOND formerly of
Longmont, died May 4, 2009, in Casper, Wyoming.
She was born August 12, 1923, in
Pennsylvania, to George and Elizabeth
Miller. After high school, she
married Ray Diamond. During WWII she served in
the U.S. Navy WAVES. Following the war, the
couple lived in southwestern Pennsylvania and
had two children, Richard
and Elizabeth.
She moved to Longmont with her
family in 1960. Returning to university in the
1960s, she earned a BA and MA from the
University of Colorado.
She taught English at Longmont High School
for several years before
returning to Pennsylvania with her husband in
1968. She continued teaching until her
retirement in 1985.
She is survived by her son,
Richard Diamond of
Casper, Wyoming, and daughter, Elizabeth Dennis
of Langley, British Columbia; one brother,
William Miller of North Carolina; 3
grandchildren, Katrina, Matthew and Daniel; and
3 great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Cameron
Elizabeth and Benjamin. She was predeceased by
her husband, Ray, and stepson, Ray Diamond Jr.
Services will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 16, 2009, in the William G. Neal
Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 E. Maiden Street,
Washington, Pennsylvania.
