ElsieDONES died September 8, 2007 at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont. She was 87.

Elsie was born March 3, 1920 to George and Rena Reffel in Keenesburg, Colorado.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings and husband Alexander Dones in 1994.

Elsie and Alex farmed in Mead and Rinn areas from 1946 until Alex’s death.

Elsie is survived by sons Dan and wife Anita, Dale and wife Roberta and Dick and wife Marjie; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Elsie is also survived by her dear companion, John Reffel. They lived together for 10 years until Elsie’s death.

Daniel DONES , 68, of Johnstown died August 18, at Good Samaritan Exempla Hospital in Lafayette, after an accident while riding his horse, with his wife by his side, doing what he loved most.

Dan exemplified the word love. His devoted family and friends are a true testament to the gentle, giving, loving person that Dan was.

Dan was a Colorado native born in Littleton, Colorado, on March 18, 1940, and taken August 18, 2008. He farmed in the Longmont/Boulder area for 13 years before moving to Kersey where he and his wife owned a farm. He was very involved in his children’s lives and 4-H and enjoyed his cattle and horses. In 1984, he moved back to the Longmont area where he continued to farm until his death. He also hauled asphalt with his truck for an asphalt company for many years until his retirement one year ago. His passions were riding his horses, taking care of his cows, and fishing with his wife and grandkids. He was a proud man who was loved by all who knew him.

Proceeded in death by his father, Alex and his mother, Elsie; and survived by his wife, Anita of Johnstown; two daughters, Cheri Leach and her husband, Terry and their three children, J.B., Jessica, and Katie of Arvada and Kerry Larsen and her husband, Jeff and their four children, Derek, Dane, Danielle, and Drew of Highlands Ranch Colorado; and one son Wade Dones and his wife, Brenda of Johnstown. He is also survived by two brothers, Dale Dones and his wife, Roberta of Brush, Colorado and Dick Dones and his wife Marjie, of Erie, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, at 10:30 at LifeBridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Highway, Longmont. Cremation entrusted to Carroll-Lewellen Funeral and Cremation Services. Inurnment Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may leave condolences for the family at www.carroll-lewellen.com.
