Vivian M. COLLINS
, 86, of Longmont passed away June 11, 2008, at
HospiceCare Center.
She was born on February 9, 1922, in Friend,
Nebraska, the daughter of John and Eva McCawley.
Vivian was raised in Friend, Nebraska, and
later moved to Seattle, Washington, to pursue a
management career in retail sales.
She married Ned Collins on September 23,
1946, in Denver.
Her first loves were her husband and seven
sons.
Vivian was a true partner in their successful
family concession business, Mile High
Enterprise, beginning at Bears Stadium. Other
concession contracts included the City and
County of Denver, Winter Park Ski Area, National
Western Stock Show and the Continental Divide
Raceway. In addition, from 1972 to 1979, Vivian
and Ned built and operated three Village Inn
Restaurants, one in Longmont and two in Tucson,
Arizona.
She was a lifelong supporter of St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church and School. Her hobbies
included cross-stitch and antique collecting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ned,
on June 2, 1999; a granddaughter, Jamie Collins;
her parents; and two sisters, Lenny Russell and
Hilma Calkins.
Survivors include seven sons,
Wayne “Doc” Collins
and his wife, Nina of Denver, Kim Collins of
Phoenix, Arizona, Kent Collins and his wife,
Dawn of California, Mark Collins of Wyoming, Ty
Collins and his wife, Kathy of Park City, Utah,
Sean Collins of Longmont, and Kirk Collins and
his wife, Debbie of Longmont; a sister, Hazel
Humphrey of Wisconsin; fourteen grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14,
at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 323 Collyer
Street, Longmont, CO, with Rev. Brian Morrow
officiating. Services will conclude at the
church. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and
Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to
St. John the Baptist Catholic School and sent to
